Invocation
It is
customary to invoke the blessings of the almighty (paramathma) commencing any
new venture. I think it would be more appropriate to quote the invocation
stanzas written by Thandavarayan pillai centuries ago in his book called ‘kaivalya
navaneetham’
Ponnila mAtharAsai porunthinar
porunthAruLLan
Thannilan tharaththil jIvasAkshi
mAththiramAi nirku
Mennilang alinu mikka vezhu nila

In all those
who are enchanted by or not enchanted by wealth, women, and land, one resides
as a mute witness. I worship him than anyone else residing in the popular pilgrimage
centres namely Ayodhya, Kasi, MathurA, MayA, Kanchi, Avanthikai, Dwaraka.
Thandavarayanpillai
did not stop there. He further went on to invoke the ParamAthma residing in
everyone by more explicit elaboration.
The self, Athma
residing everyone is like an ever shining sun, that too self shining without
the help of anyone. The GnAna SOOriyan is faultless, devoid of any deficiency.
The ParamAthmA residing in every one is the same omniscient, omnipresent
Vishnu, brahma or Eswara who by his divine power creates Maya and envelopes all
of us by RAJO,THAMO, Sathva gunas in different degrees and administers the
whole universe. HE is an ocean of divine
bliss. HE is free from all bondages. HE creates, sustains, and destroys but HE
does not have any attachment to anyone. HE destroys darkness of ignorance and
enlightens HIS subjects. Thandavarayan pillai bows before that omniscient, omnipotent, omnipresent Para man. I too bow
before that force.

ThAntavarAyanpillai
gave equally important place Guru also.
He declares
that he is bound to prostrate at the lotus feet of that Guru with whose benevolence
he could realize that He is the same as the Brahmam which pervades everywhere
in the Universe and all other things one see in the Universe are illusory; as
the sky seen through a window and from an open place are one and the same he
and the Brahmam are one and the same. There is nothing other than HIM. It is
the meaning of the maha vakya “AHAM BrahmASmi”.
